Where you have consented to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, where special categories of personal data pursuant to Art. 9(1) GDPR are processed. The right to lodge a complaint is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies.
Right to Data Portability
You have the right to have data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be carried out insofar as it is technically feasible.

Within the framework of applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to obtain free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients, and the purpose of data processing, and, where applicable, the right to have this data corrected or deleted. You may contact us at any time regarding this and any other questions concerning personal data.
Right to Restriction of Processing
You have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data. You may contact us at any time regarding this. The right to restriction of processing exists in the following cases:
- If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored by us, we generally need time to verify this. For the duration of the verification, you have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data.
- If the processing of your personal data was/is unlawful, you may request restriction of data processing instead of deletion.

4. Data Collection on This Website
Cookies
Our websites use so-called “cookies”. Cookies are small data packages and do not cause any damage to your terminal device. They are either stored temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (persistent cookies) on your terminal device. Session cookies are automatically deleted after your visit ends. Persistent cookies remain stored on your terminal device until you delete them yourself or automatic deletion takes place through your web browser.
Cookies may originate from us (first-party cookies) or from third-party companies (so-called third-party cookies). Third-party cookies enable certain services provided by third-party companies to be integrated into websites (e.g. cookies used to process payment services).
Cookies have various functions. Numerous cookies are technically necessary because certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. the shopping cart function or the display of videos). Other cookies may be used to analyse user behaviour or for advertising purposes.
Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process, to provide certain functions requested by you (e.g. for the shopping cart function), or to optimise the website (e.g. cookies for measuring website traffic) are stored on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, unless another legal basis is specified. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of its services. If consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of this consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG); consent may be withdrawn at any time.
You can configure your browser to notify you when cookies are set and to allow cookies only on a case-by-case basis, to exclude the acceptance of cookies in certain cases or generally, and to activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed. If cookies are disabled, the functionality of this website may be restricted.
You can find out which cookies and services are used on this website in this Privacy Policy.

When you enter our website, a Borlabs cookie is stored in your browser in which the consents you have given or the withdrawal of these consents are stored. This data is not transmitted to the provider of Borlabs Cookie.
The collected data is stored until you request us to delete it, delete the Borlabs cookie yourself, or the purpose for storing the data ceases to apply. Mandatory statutory retention periods remain unaffected. Details on data processing by Borlabs Cookie can be found at: https://de.borlabs.io/kb/welche-daten-speichert-borlabs-cookie/
The Borlabs Cookie consent technology is used to obtain the legally required consents for the use of cookies. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Hostname of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address
These data are not combined with other data sources.
The collection of this data is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of its website – for this purpose, the server log files must be collected.
Contact Form
If you send us enquiries via the contact form, the information you provide in the enquiry form, including the contact details you enter there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent.
The processing of this data is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry is related to the fulfilment of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in effectively processing enquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), if this has been requested; consent may be withdrawn at any time.
The data you enter into the contact form will remain with us until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent to its storage, or the purpose for storing the data ceases to apply (e.g. after your enquiry has been fully processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.
Contact by Email, Telephone, or Fax
If you contact us by email, telephone, or fax, your enquiry, including all personal data arising from it (name, enquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request.
The data you send to us in contact enquiries will remain with us until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent to its storage, or the purpose for storing the data ceases to apply (e.g. after your request has been fully processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular statutory retention periods – remain unaffected.
5. Newsletter
Newsletter Data
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require your email address and information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No other data is collected, or only collected on a voluntary basis. We use newsletter service providers for the processing of newsletters, as described below.
CleverReach
This website uses CleverReach to send newsletters. The provider is CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Schafjückenweg 2, 26180 Rastede, Germany (hereinafter “CleverReach”). CleverReach is a service that can be used to organise and analyse newsletter distribution. The data you enter for the purpose of receiving the newsletter (e.g. email address) is stored on CleverReach’s servers in Germany and/or Ireland.
Newsletters sent by us using CleverReach allow us to analyse the behaviour of newsletter recipients. Among other things, this can analyse how many recipients opened the newsletter message and how often particular links in the newsletter were clicked. Using so-called conversion tracking, it can also be analysed whether a predefined action (e.g. the purchase of a product on this website) takes place after clicking a link. Further information on data analysis by CleverReach newsletters can be found at: https://www.cleverreach.com/de/funktionen/reporting-und-tracking/
Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The lawfulness of data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the withdrawal.
If you do not want CleverReach to analyse your data, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. A corresponding link is provided in every newsletter message for this purpose.
The data you provide to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us and/or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe. Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected.
After you unsubscribe from the newsletter distribution list, your email address may be stored by us and/or the newsletter service provider in a blacklist if this is necessary to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist is used only for this purpose and is not combined with other data. This serves both your interests and our interests in complying with the legal requirements for sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Storage in the blacklist is not time-limited. You may object to this storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest.
For more information, please refer to CleverReach’s Privacy Policy: https://www.cleverreach.com/de/datenschutz/
Data Processing Agreement
We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) for the use of the above-mentioned service. Privacy Information on Photo and Video Recordings at Events
Controller
Purposes of Processing
At our events, we take photographs and, where applicable, video recordings. We use these recordings for the following purposes: documenting our events, reporting on our events, and press and public relations work for the LIONS Germany organisations. For these purposes, selected recordings may be published in particular on Lions Germany websites, in Lions Germany publications and information materials, and on our social media channels. Recordings may also be provided to press and media representatives in connection with reporting on the respective event. When taking and selecting recordings, we generally ensure that the character and activities of the event remain the main focus.
Legal Bases
Event and Situational Recordings
Where photographs and video recordings document the event and individual people are not specifically highlighted as the main subject or in a comparable manner, processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to document the events we organise in images, provide information about our events and activities, and present them as part of our press and public relations work. When taking, selecting and publishing recordings, we take into account the interests and personal rights of the people depicted. In particular, we take care not to use recordings showing people in disadvantageous, inappropriate or privacy-infringing situations.
Individual and Portrait Recordings Taken Intentionally
For targeted individual or portrait photographs, as well as other recordings in which a person is deliberately highlighted as the main subject, we obtain consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR where required. Consent given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. Participation in an event is not conditional on consenting to the taking or publication of recordings for which consent is required.
Objections to Being Photographed or Filmed
If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please speak to our event team or the photographers on site as early as possible. We will take your wishes into account when taking and selecting recordings. Where the venue allows, areas in which no photographs or video recordings are taken may also be designated.
Recipients and Publication
Within the Lions Germany organisations, access to recordings is limited to those offices and teams that need them for the purposes stated above. Where necessary, recordings may also be transferred to service providers engaged by us, in particular photographers, agencies, and IT, hosting or media service providers. Selected recordings may be published or shared as part of our press and public relations work, particularly on Lions Germany websites, in Lions Germany publications and information materials, and on our social media profiles. If published on the internet, the recordings can be accessed worldwide. It cannot be ruled out that third parties may save, reproduce, redistribute or otherwise use published recordings.
Retention Period
Photographs and video recordings are stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes. Recordings that are not selected for further use will be deleted within 12 months, unless statutory retention obligations or other legitimate reasons require further storage. Selected recordings used for documentation and press and public relations work may be stored and used for as long as necessary for these purposes. The need for continued storage and use is reviewed regularly. Where processing is based on your consent and you withdraw it, the recordings concerned will no longer be used for future purposes and will be deleted unless another legal basis permits further processing.
Right to Object
Where processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right under Art. 21(1) GDPR to object at any time to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation. If you object, we will no longer process the personal data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Regardless of this, you may inform us before or during the event if you do not wish to be photographed or filmed.
Withdrawal of Consent
Where the processing of a recording is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of your consent up to the time of withdrawal.
Other Data Protection Rights
Subject to the statutory requirements, you have in particular the right to access the personal data processed about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectify inaccurate personal data (Art. 16 GDPR), to have your personal data erased (Art. 17 GDPR), and to restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR). Where the statutory requirements are met, you may also have the right to data portability under Art. 20 GDPR for processing based on consent.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
Under Art. 77 GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes data protection law.
